UD Las Palmas earned a 2-2 draw with Real Valladolid on Sunday at the Estadio de Gran Canaria. Goals from Valentín Pezzolesi and Elías Romero secured a point for the hosts in the eighth round of LaLiga HyperMotion.

The match started at a frantic pace. Valentín Pezzolesi opened the scoring for Las Palmas after just five minutes following a pass from Iván Jaime. The lead was short-lived, as Juanmi Latasa equalised for Valladolid five minutes later assisted by Víctor Fernández. Julien Ponceau put the visitors ahead 1-2 in the 26th minute, again set up by Fernández. Substitute Elías Romero levelled the score definitively in the 54th minute. "Left-footed shot from the centre of the box to the bottom right corner. Assist by Jesé," Romero said of his goal.

Cards and substitutions

The physical encounter saw the referee show seven yellow cards. Las Palmas's Giovanni Bonfanti was booked for dangerous play. "Ha visto tarjeta amarilla por juego peligroso," the player confirmed. Iván Medina, Yeray Cabanzón, Víctor Fernández, Kaj de Rooij, Mathis Lachuer and Iván Jaime of Valladolid also received cautions. Both managers shuffled their packs in the second half. Manu Fuster replaced Elías Romero, while Jefté Betancor came on for Jesé. For Valladolid, Thiago Ojeda took over from Julien Ponceau and Carlos Clerc replaced Iván Garriel.

With this point, UD Las Palmas remains in 11th place in the Segunda División with 11 points from eight games. Their record stands at three wins, two draws and three losses. The team has scored 12 goals and conceded 13, leaving them with a -1 goal difference. Forward T. Miyashiro is the squad's top scorer this season with two goals in seven appearances.

The schedule offers little respite. The next fixture is an away trip to face fifth-placed Mallorca on October 11th. After that, the team will take on CD Castellón. Sunday's match showed the character to fight back, a trait that will be key in the coming weeks.
