Former UD Las Palmas player Maikel Mesa has been sentenced to 8 months in prison and 1,200 euros fine for assault and injury. The incident occurred on Sunday in La Laguna. Maikel Mesa, along with two other people, mocked and assaulted a judge last weekend in La Laguna. The former UD Las Palmas player and current CD Tenerife player, Maikel Mesa, has been sentenced to eight months in prison and four months in fine for assault and injury, after being detained for assaulting, along with two other people, a man who had previously been mocked. Specifically, for the crime of assault, the eight months of imprisonment and a fine of two months at a rate of ten euros correspond, while for the injury, two months of fine result in 1,200 euros. This is the resolution after the rapid trial held this Wednesday in the courts of La Laguna. On Sunday, agents from the Operational Response Group (GOR) of the National Police and the Local Police of La Laguna arrived at the scene of the events. And, although they advised the victim to request a report of injuries and file a complaint at the National Police Station, their assistance was crucial for the identification of the player. The images of the aggressors and the license plates of the cars captured by the Local Police allowed the identification of Maikel Mesa and his location in the home of his mother, checking that he had injuries on his knuckles that were compatible with an aggression. In addition, the player confirmed that they had taken the victim's mobile phone and where they had thrown it. This same Wednesday, the three people involved in the altercation were taken under police custody to the courts of San Cristóbal de La Laguna to appear in a rapid trial, in which the blue and white player has been sentenced to eight months in prison and four months in fine.
