UD Las Palmas suffered a 1-2 home defeat to Burgos in the sixth matchday of LaLiga HyperMotion. The island team took the lead through a Jesé goal but succumbed to two second-half strikes from the visitors.
The match, played on Saturday at the Estadio Gran Canaria, began with local dominance. The first clear chance came from the feet of Manu Fuster, whose cross from the wing found Jesé Rodríguez in the area. The striker finished first-time to beat the Burgos goalkeeper in the 37th minute. Fuster's assist was his third of the season.
Las Palmas held the lead until halftime, but the game changed after the restart. Burgos came out with more intensity and found the equaliser in the 58th minute. Jon Karrikaburu stole a ball in midfield and launched a quick counter-attack. The pass reached Álex Forés, who cut in from the right and shot with his right foot from inside the box. "A right-footed shot from the right side inside the area, low, near the left post," Forés later described his goal.
Comeback in added time
With the score level, the Las Palmas manager made several changes. Iván Medina, Elías Romero, Jefté Betancor, Sandro Ramírez and Rafa Cruz came on to try and regain the initiative. However, it was Burgos who sealed the game in stoppage time. In the 94th minute, Javi Llabrés played a through ball for David González, who shot with his left foot from outside the area. The ball nestled in the bottom left corner of José Antonio Caro's goal. González explained his action: "A left-footed shot from outside the area, low, near the left post. Assist from Javi Llabrés after a through pass."
The referee showed five yellow cards. For Las Palmas, Enzo Loiodice and Manu Fuster were booked for dangerous play. For Burgos, Grego Sierra, Oier Luengo and José Gragera received cautions. The island team, who sit fifth in the Segunda División with 10 points, see their positive momentum halted. Their forward Taisei Miyashiro remains the squad's top scorer with two goals in five appearances.
The defeat to Burgos is a home stumble that leaves Las Palmas with a record of two wins, one draw and two losses in their last five matches. The next challenge is a difficult away trip to second-placed Eibar on 27 September. Fans can check the full season schedule on our fixtures page and the updated league table on standings.
