UD Las Palmas climbed into the upper reaches of the Segunda División with a hard-fought 0-1 away win at Cadiz. Enrique Clemente scored the only goal in the 59th minute to secure three points that provisionally put Las Palmas level on 10 points with leaders Castellón after five matchdays.
The match at the Estadio JP Financial saw a frantic start from the struggling hosts. Cadiz thought they had taken the lead twice in the first half, but both goals were disallowed. First, Giovanni Bonfanti's finish from a Juan Manuel Herzog indirect free-kick was ruled out for a handball by Taisei Miyashiro in the 23rd minute. Five minutes later, Álvaro García Pascual found the net only for the effort to be chalked off for an offside against Borja Vázquez in the build-up.
Las Palmas grew into the game and created the better chances before the break. Jesé Rodríguez was denied by a save from goalkeeper Jokin Ezkieta in the 41st minute. In first-half stoppage time, Iván Jaime's shot cannoned off the post and the rebound hit Ezkieta's back before going out for a corner.

Ezkieta made the initial save, but the rebound fell perfectly for the arriving Enrique Clemente, who tapped home from close range for his first goal of the campaign.
Cadiz pushed for an equaliser and forced Las Palmas keeper José Antonio Caro into a smart save from García Pascual just three minutes later. The visitors managed the game well in the closing stages, limiting Cadiz to few clear opportunities. Referee Eder Mallo booked three Cadiz players: Doué, García Pascual, and Damián.
